On Sex & Food, UMO try to convey significant political messages via an inconsequential bedroom pop sound.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Multi-Love
ReviewsUnknown Mortal Orchestra comes through with their most eerie, catchy, soulful, and idiosyncratic record yet.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra - "Swim and Sleep (Like A Shark)"
VideosCommentI'm not sure if you'll see a stranger music video than this in the month of March. Unknown Mortal Orchestra has dropped some visuals for the track "Swim and Sleep (Like A Shark)," which is a cut off the band's latest record, II.
The video takes no time in establishing itself with puppet masturbation, therapy sessions, personal anguish, and more puppet masturbation. While there's an element of sadness to the main character's emotional problems, his, uh, "sickness" leads to happiness in a pretty hilarious ending.
Also, check out my review for the band's latest record:

Unknown Mortal Orchestra- Self-Titled
Reviews5 CommentsUnknown Mortal Orchestra's debut full-length surprised me in some places, but underwhelmed in others. I love how effortlessly these guys pull together a fun and bouncy salute to the world of 60s rock and pop. It sounds as fresh as it does retro. Where this album really ended up losing me, though, was in the song structures, which repeat to the point where a lot of these songs sorta lose their flavor.

The more I hear from this Portland band, the more they shape up to be a fun, little pop trio.
Thanks to yourstru.ly, here's a video of Unknown Mortal Orchestra pumping out a live version of their song "How Can U Luv Me." Look for the band's self-titled LP, which is out now on Fat Possum.
